King Arthur’s half-sister Morgana (Rebecca Ferguson) is going to take over the world in 4 days in modern times. Alex (Louis Ashbourne Serkis) has found the legendary Sword in the Stone and is able to pull it out. Now Alex and his friends must go on a quest to find the opening of hell and battle Morgana. What to Watch For: The film won the Truly Moving Picture Award at the 2019 Heartland Film Festival.

Word on the Street: The writer/director of this film, Joe Cornish, also wrote and directed the 2011 hit Attack the Block.

My Take: I find it fascinating that Rebecca Ferguson shot Mission Impossible: Fallout during the weekdays and filmed scenes for this film on the weekends.

Opens nationwide on Friday.

Stan & Ollie (2018)  PG

Once the greatest comedy team in film, Laurel (Steve Coogan) and Hardy (John C. Reilly) attempt to revive their careers as they go on a stage tour of England. Stan & Ollie Website

What to Watch For: John C. Reilly had to spend four hours every day to play Ollie.

Word on the Street: Currently Stan & Ollie is at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

My Take: I love Laurel and Hardy, so you know I will be seeing this film.

The film opens in Atlanta area theatres on Friday.

Serenity (2019) R

The past of a fishing boat captain (Matthew McConaughey) comes back to haunt him when his ex-wife (Anne Hathaway) tracks him down with a plea for help. Serenity Website

What to Watch For: The film was shot on location in the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius.

Word on the Street: The excellent supporting cast includes Diane Lane, Djimon Hounsou, and Jason Clarke.

My Take: The writer/director of the film, Steven Knight, wrote on my favorite movies of all time, 2013’s Locke.

The film opens in Atlanta area theatres on Friday.

Cold War (2018)  R

What to Watch For: The film just received an Academy Award nominations for Cinematography, Best Foreign Language Film and Best Director for Pawel Pawlikowski.

Word on the Street: The film received a standing ovation of 18 minutes at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

My Take: I am hearing great things about the two leads Joanna Kulig and Tomasz Kot.
